DanMedical Patient Monitoring solutions at MedTech Innovation and at BioTrinity
26th April 2016 Kingham, Oxfordshire, UK

DanMedical attended MedTech Innovation 2016 and are exhibiting at BioTrinity, demonstrating the latest medical monitoring solutions for patients in remote locations.

DanMedical's solutions enable better medical support to workers and patients in remote, difficult-to-access, or dangerous locations.

We enable doctors to make a more informed, more accurate diagnosis - that enables treatment to start at the remote location, and in some cases can avoid the substantial costs of either evacuating the patient back to base, or of transporting the doctor out to the remote site.

DanMedical's solutions enable better medical support to workers and patients in remote, difficult-to-access, or dangerous locations. By providing the doctors who are supporting such patients with real-time patient information including vital signs data, medical test results, still and video images, we enable doctors to make a more informed, more accurate diagnosis - that enables treatment to start at the remote location.

Monitoring a patient using the D-MAS HyperSat from DanMedical.

DanMedical's solution enables real-time medical monitoring of patients offshore, including divers in saturation. So specialist doctors based onshore can now provide real-time, expert medical diagnosis and advice to support a patient who is working offshore.

The D-MAS device enables compliance with the requirements of OGP 411 and DMAC 28 by measuring the patient's heart rhythm and ECG, blood pressure, blood oxygen content and core temperature, as well as medical images in still or video format.

D-MAS is now deployed by many leading offshore energy contractors and medical advisors, world-wide. The equipment is also installed at the NHC's hyperbaric facility, to enable diagnosis and medical support of any injured diver brought in to the NHC's chambers.

Laura Stuart, General Manager of NHC said:

"NHC is committed to improving the safety of subsea operations through promoting world class equipment and training. We share this commitment to safety with DanMedical, and we look forward to demonstrating the D-MAS system at SubSea Expo 2016."

Peter Couldery, DanMedical added:

"In these tough times, implementing innovative medical practice can both save lives and deliver business benefits. I'm looking forward to SubSea Expo to meet the leading offshore operators to talk through these issues."

Harkand deploy medical monitoring solution
5th October 2015 Kingham, Oxfordshire, UK

We are pleased to announce that Harkand have taken the decision to enhance the medical support provided to their divers and to other offshore workers. The D-MAS HyperSat medical monitoring system from DanMedical has been deployed on the Harkand Da Vinci Dive Support Vessel (DSV).

Harkand take the health of their workers very seriously. This deployment raises the standard of medical support that the company offers to its offshore workers.

The HyperSat device was developed by DanMedical to provide a full range of medical monitoring to offshore workers including divers within the saturation chamber.

The HyperSat takes a range of measurements to monitor the divers' vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rhythm, as well as specialist digital cameras for medical grade images. This supports effective clinical interpretation and medical support from outside the chamber, including from specialist doctors at base location.

David Kerr, Managing Director, Harkand Europe said:

"Despite the tough economic climate, Harkand are committed to delivering industry-leading operational standards for our offshore workforce. Deploying the D-MAS HyperSat medical monitoring system to one of our primary assets, DSV Da Vinci, is part of our commitment towards continuous improvement in Health and Safety."

Peter Couldery, Dan Medical said:

"We know that Harkand place the highest importance on ensuring the well-being of their offshore workers. We're delighted to support their decision to deploy the D-MAS HyperSat equipment."

'No compromise on Health and Safety in the Offshore sector'

26th March 2015

No Compromise

The impacts of falling oil prices is having a wide ranging effect in the UK - from the lower cost of filling up the car to people's livelihoods being under threat.

It is inevitable companies seek to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and the decisions they are being forced to make are tough ones. It's actually a stress test of leadership and senior management.

Part of that test is whether company decision makers have all the relevant information to make informed decisions.

How can they?

At the very least they have to make assumptions about what the future will look like. In this case, how long oil prices will stay at these levels? What decisions are competitor companies and industries taking? After all, they need to be making the right decisions for the company in the short term and for the mid to long term.

We've been here before, of course, in the 1990s when oil prices dropped and assumptions were made about the long term life of North Sea assets that proved to be wide of the mark. So this is a time when corporate memory really counts.

On that occasion the assumption was made that North Sea production would be wound down in the medium term and assets could afford to be neglected because they would soon be out of service. As prices rose again, the assets were called upon to continue to produce and many are now operating well beyond their original life expectancy. Doing that has required huge effort by the North Sea Oil and Gas industry to bring those neglected assets back up to the required standard.

Those who have led this effort to improve asset integrity deserve to be praised, but their voices need to continue to be heard as we go through this next difficult phase for the industry.

Cutting costs where there seems to be least tangible day-to-day effect is obviously tempting but leaders and senior managers need to pass the stress test on knowing where health and safety - and particularly process safety and asset integrity - sits in this mix.

Asset integrity must not suffer from short term expediency over where the axe falls. Leadership is critical to avoid wrong assumptions being made about the lifespan of assets, assumptions we know from previous experience can take years to reverse.

Current news headlines may be disconcerting, but I want all industries dealing with process safety to avoid inadvertently writing tomorrow's headlines today.

Safety must not be compromised, even in tough times.
